“8 Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting,
“Praise God for the Son of David!
Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Praise God in highest heaven!” Matthew 21:8-9
I started thinking, “What made them change from this praise to yelling “Crucify Him!”?”
I feel like God answered my thoughts with one word, “EXPECTATIONS”.
You see, the truth is, God doesn’t let us down. We let ourselves down because we place the wrong types of expectations on Him.
These people thought Jesus was coming to town to over throw the Roman government. They called Him KING but meant it literally and earthly. That wasn’t His plan.
We pray for things, but we don’t pray for God’s will with those prayer requests.
Then we get upset because He either didn’t answer our prayer or He didn’t answer it like we wanted Him to.
He’s God, people. He does what He wants to.
Here is the key to it all, HE LOVES US SO MUCH. He has plans for our lives and He wants us to have abundant amazing lives. It’s not His will for you to be sick or hurt. But He can and will use that sickness or hurt for your good.
Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
I read a quote this morning too that really adds to this topic:
“Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitude toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I become that life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we respond to it.” Charles R. Swindoll, Christian Reader.
Life is not fun sometimes. Things happen that we can’t control. But God.
But God is there, waiting for us to turn to Him. He is there, loving us and wanting us to talk to Him and allow Him to work and move in our lives.
Know this too, my friends, as Sean Smith says in his book Prophetic Evangelism, “You were never intended by God to live in the pain you’re living in right now.”
God loves us and wants the best for us. We’ve got to stop allowing ourselves to expect Him to do what we ask, exactly. He’s not a vending machine. We don’t put our request in and get it right back out.
He might need to use that hard time to mold and shape you. Does it stink, sure it does! Who ENJOYS going through a hard time?
Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!
I pray that you will see the truth and that the truth with set you free.
God bless you today and always!
