Have you ever heard someone say, “The devil made me do it.”? That’s an easy way to try to get out of messing up.

Truth be told, some people actually think GOD tempts us to sin.

Check out what James had to say about that:

12 God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. 13 And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong,[c] and he never tempts anyone else. 14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. James 1: 12-15

I think this totally blows “the devil made me do it” idea out of the water. Not only is God NOT tempting us, but it’s not even really the devil either.

Our desires can cause us to sin.

I remember my old Pastor always saying, it’s a “Think, say, and do.” issue.

Our temptations start as a thought.

The next thought, and or the words out of our mouths take it to the next level… then, we end up doing what we were tempted to do.

Maybe we need to heed that Scripture that says to take every thought captive?  (2 Corinthians 10:5)

One other thing my old Pastor used to say is, “God can’t give you something He doesn’t already have.”

If that’s the case, then, God can’t tempt us to sin, since He has never sinned either. Right?

God is good. He wants us to have a good life, so He wouldn’t tempt us to go against His Word and/ or commandments.

Once we start seeing the truth about God and who He is, things shift in our hearts. Have you ever experienced that?

Let’s talk about it.

God bless you today and always!
