17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17

Not too long ago, I wrote about God not tempting us. Today, I want to touch on this Scripture about God giving us good gifts.

God is good. He is love. He can’t give us something He doesn’t already have. He does not have bad things, so He does not give bad things.

What happens is, we blame God. We blame Him for the bad stuff in our lives.

Even if we don’t think He DID IT… we wonder, “Why didn’t He stop it?”

You know what? It’s just not our place to wonder that type of stuff. The truth of the matter is, God has a plan and purpose for our lives.

We have free will. So, something can happen to us, then we have a choice to decide what our next step will be.

My best paid me the best compliment the other day, she said, “I have never met anyone like you. You just take the problem head on and work through it.”

I guess do. Because I don’t like to be bogged down. I don’t like to continue thinking about something I can’t fix. I don’t like feeling sad, depressed, or angry.

I like being joyful and having peace.

Realizing that God gives good gifts helps me know that if something is happening that’s not good, it’s not God.

My Pastor Josh says that a lot, “If it’s not good, it’s not God.”

Remember that, write that down. “If it’s not good, it’s not God.”

Next time something bad happens to you, remember this blog post, and know that God loves you. He is not trying to make your life miserable.

Jesus even said He came to give us abundant life. If He came to give abundant life, then why on earth would He give us something bad?

Also, Jesus said, in Matthew 7:9-11

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Next time something good happens to you, thank Him and say “God’s favor.” out loud.

I enjoy doing that.

God bless you today and always!
