Psalm 24:9 Jewish Bible, “Taste and see how good the LORD is; happy is the man who takes refuge in Him!”

First of all, yep, I know that’s verse 9, not 8, but that’s how it’s listed in my Jewish Bible.

Second of all… I’M BAAAACKKK! Did you miss me? LOL

6 days of NO media proved to be very interesting to me. That was You Tube, TV, Netflix, Words with Friends, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and my weather app.

Here are a few things I experienced:

  1. I got more sleep.
  2. I talked to people more either face to face or on the phone.
  3. I was not worried about the weather.
  4. I read more of the Bible and books. Actual PAPER books.
  5. I prayed more.
  6. I was more involved in life and not as distracted.

This fast really opened my eyes and I plan on continuing it in some fashion.

Maybe, especially in the evenings. My kids are almost all grown. I don’t have a lot of time left with them. While they are home, I need to get off my phone and hang out with them more.

Nothing can replace actual face to face time with people.

While I love interacting with people on different social media platforms, I realized that it is not as fulfilling as having an actual conversation with someone.

We have become so involved with our phones, that we miss out on the actual live people in front of us.

I will be honest, this one was harder than food for me. I did not do a complete food fast this year, I did a selective one, but still. I realized just how much I rely on media, and how silly that is.

God wants us to fully rely on Him. He wants us to trust Him with every area of our lives. He wants us to spend time with Him.

For me, I wasn’t spending enough time with Him, because I was on media instead.

God is my everything. He is my first love, and nothing will ever change that. If I am not spending time with Him, how can my relationship grow?

It’s the same with any relationship. You have to spend time and talk to someone. Get to know the them. Not everyone sit around the table on their phones.

I will be more aware now than ever before.

What types of media keep you on your phone? Have you ever tried to take a break from it?

God bless you today and always!
